John Altobelli, the baseball coach at California’s Orange Coast College, was reportedly among the nine killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday along with basketball legend Kobe Bryant and Bryant’s teen daughter.

Multiple outlets, including the Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Daily News, confirmed that Altobelli was aboard the Sikorsky S-76 that crashed in the hills of Calabasas around 10 a.m. local time, citing assistant coach Ron La Ruffa.

Altobelli was entering his 24th season as baseball coach at the college in Costa Mesa, about 70 miles southeast of Calabasas, according to the Register.

The college’s Twitter account did not immediately confirm its coach’s death, but did issue a tribute to Bryant.

“The Orange Coast College community sends its sincere condolences to the entire Bryant family,” tweeted the school, along with a photo of the retired Los Angeles Lakers star palling around with students.

Bryant, 41, and one of his four daughters, 13-year-old Gianna, have been confirmed among the dead.
