The games are scheduled to get started Thursday for the Lemonade League — a college summer baseball league hosted by the Lansing Lugnuts.

And a number of Greater Lansing graduates are among the players that will be in action at Cooley Law School Stadium over the next few weeks.

The local presence is headlined by three Division I players — Michigan State pitcher Jesse Heikkinen (Holt), Oakland outfielder Michael Stygles (DeWitt) and Central Michigan catcher Kade Preston (DeWitt).

DeWitt graduates Mark Connelly (Lansing Community College) and Nolan Knauf (Saginaw Valley), Portland St. Patrick’s Brandon Scheurer (Saginaw Valley), Grand Ledge’s Luke LaLumia (Davenport) and Elliott Patten (Lansing CC) and Eaton Rapids’ Vann Acker (Concordia) are among the other area players that will be on the two teams — the Collegiate Locos and the Collegiate Lugnuts.

Heikkinen is one of four current Michigan State players competing in the league. Andrew Morrow, Gabe Sotres and Zaid Walker are the other Spartans on rosters. Hunter Lay, Kameron Marnon and Craig Palidar join Connelly and Patten as the other LCC players in the league.
